Welcome to MBK.fm

Your home for African-Australian music

MBK.fm was created for connection and documentation back in 2019. After an extended period of rest we are making a comeback focusing on the Perth music scene.

Seeing that the Australian music industry and media, needed a push to expand representation for Black music and creativity, and feeling that it was important to build pillars of support MBK, now MBK.fm was created. Our founder felt that there was a need to create a platform where African-Australian’s could make connections and support those of us who were going against the grain.

As a platform, our mission is to create awareness, connection and enjoyment for African diaspora music in Australia. Our founder wanted to create a platform that highlighted the diversity within the Australian creative industry. To be another voice where African-Australian creativity could be amplified and shared with the wider community.

Whether it is Australian R&B, Rap, Soul, Rock or House music we want to hear it.

Goals

As an independent music blog we want to support Perth’s local live music venues, independent Perth musical artists. Eventually we want to grow our channels into a music discovery platform for the underground music scene and emerging artists.

On a national level we want to be the home of the African Australian music community.

We also want to showcase the evolution of music and creative expression in Perth and wider Australia.

This platform was created to highlight and amplify the creative community of Boorloo and the wider Western Australian creative scene.

We want to hear and amplify the voices of our community and celebrate your wins!

So if you know anyone who deserve a spotlight submit their music, send us a dm or an email and let us know!

We want to collaborate with emerging music artists to create a collaborative musical network to spotlight African Australian artists and a community backing them.

As this a new disruption, to the Australian music scenes, especially the Perth music scene, we’d love to know how we can improve and further support African Australian creatives,
